Policy and Advocacy

Policy Priorities

The Commercial Drone Alliance advocates for policies that will restore American global leadership in commercial drones by matching the pace of technological innovation in America.  We are working with government partners to enable the commercialization of drone technology at scale, for the benefit of the industry and the American public.

Our 2026 policy priorities include:

Near Term: Immediate Operational Scalability and Profitability

  • Immediately enhance efficiency of the low altitude economy
  • Reduce bureaucratic red tape
  • Standardize policy and streamline processes

Mid-Term: Predictable Regulatory Framework

  • Enable a regulatory framework for BVLOS and third-party UTM services
  • Provide a clear, common sense path to enable the safe transport of medical and household goods
  • Develop clear federal policy to protect flight restricted areas from unauthorized drones

Long-Term: Improved Airspace Integration

  • Enable universal electronic conspicuity in low altitude airspace
  • Develop scalable UTM for cooperative, federated low altitude traffic management that supports highly automated operations in complex and urban environments
  • Enable the common sense use of counter-drone technology as appropriate and necessary to prevent rogue drone use
