On behalf of the Commercial Drone Alliance and its members, we write to express our support for H.R. 3935, the bipartisan, bicameral FAA Reauthorization Act of 2024, and congratulate you on your hard work and leadership in developing this important package of reforms.  Included in this bill are provisions critical to the growth and development of the U.S. uncrewed aircraft system (UAS or “drone”) industry.  This important legislation will bring much-needed stability and continuity to both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and industry, and enable the U.S. drone industry to keep pace with other countries around the world.

The Commercial Drone Alliance is comprised of companies and organizations from across the UAS ecosystem.  Despite their varying business pursuits, our members share the common goal of bringing the benefits of UAS to communities around the country.  This legislation includes provisions that will encourage a regulatory landscape that further unlocks the safety, security, equity, sustainability, and economic benefits of using drones for many commercial and public safety use cases.  Whether it is emergency response and mitigation, critical infrastructure inspection, precision agriculture, delivery of essential goods, firefighting, medical intervention, use by police departments and other public safety entities, or any number of additional use cases, the provisions of this legislation will help bring the benefits of UAS to the American people.

We applaud your great work, and the work of the Members of the Senate Commerce and the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committees for crafting a bill that will enable the development of a regulatory structure that will enable the American public and businesses to realize the benefits of UAS.  The UAS provisions within the bill have been thoughtfully drafted and we strongly encourage final passage of this legislation as soon as possible.

Again, thank you.  Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,
